With Masters in Agriculture, my interest was always to do farming but never had a chance to start with the family commitments and work. Finally decided to start one with pasture raised chickens and planning to expand into livestock’s in the coming years.
Pasture raised chicken was new to me and started doing some google search and found American Pasture Poultry Producers Association(APPPA). I immediately jumped into it and got the membership for the full access of the resources. It was the right time and they had a conference coming in a couple of months and signed for it. It was a great experience attending the conference with tons of information and started learning slowly.
Initially I was thinking of growing the chickens in Joel Salatin style tractor, but I liked the John Suscovich style and went with John Suscovich stress free tractor style. The chicken tractor have ample space on the pasture and the tractor are moved to a new location daily so the chickens get fresh grass, land and bugs daily for a healthier growth with supplemental feed daily.
With the experience gained from the conference and with the help of APPPA news letters and few personal experiences shared by the poultry producers in the youtube channels I decided to go for it !!!.
